Copacker depositor gummy molds: what to send when the line isn't yours

Copacker depositor gummy molds are trays built so someone else's line can hit pockets - from their drawing, not from a catalog collection. This page is the brand-to-copacker file pack. Nest and pitch geometry live on /depositor-compatible-gummy-molds/.

WYD (Room 201, Building N, Licheng Technology Industrial Park Phase III, Xinhe Avenue, Shajing, Baoan District, Shenzhen, since 2006): DFM review is free. CAD modification about $50 when the model needs lock — not a fee on every PO. Prototype 3-7 business days after CAD lock, soft-tray MOQ about 20, FOB Shenzhen. We map to the nest the copacker sends. The nameplate on the head does not matter - their drawing does. We will not copy a catalog pitch from a product photo.

What the copacker has to hand you

Ask them before you RFQ us:

  1. Machine brand as they say it, plus a nest PDF or a photo with a scale
  2. Nozzle count, pitch (mm), index pattern
  3. Whether they flood-and-scrape some days and deposit on others (two maps)
  4. Tray drop: loose on a pan vs keyed locators
  5. Clearance from the support frame / nest rails to the head
  6. Who approves first article - brand or copacker
  7. Packaging (tin / pouch / clamshell) so cavity count is not fantasy

If they refuse to share a drawing, measure three nozzle centers on a visit. Still better than a storefront screenshot.

Depositor pitch context

Multi-SKU, changeover, and whose tool

Write three ownership lines on the RFQ before CAD lock:

  1. Whose tool is this tray - brand-owned, copacker-owned, or WYD-held until balance paid?
  2. How many SKUs share one nest envelope this season, and which cavity maps swap on changeover?
  3. Who pays for a second map when the copacker adds a nozzle bank or a flood-and-scrape day?

A single mascot on one nest is one PO. Three flavors on the same envelope with two deposit patterns is three maps and a changeover note - not one "copacker compatible" SKU. If the copacker keeps the nest and you only own artwork, say so; the sample approval and the MOQ 20 release then need both signatures.

Common mix-up: copacker pack vs machine-fit page

URLOwner of the problem
This pageBrand to copacker file pack
/depositor-compatible-gummy-molds/Pitch, nest, half- or full-sheet DFM
/depositor-machine-gummy-molds/Nest + nozzle-row drawing RFQ
/steel-depositor-gummy-tooling/Soft tray vs named steel plate once pitch locks

Failure: copacker rejects trays that "fit the catalog"

Symptom: Copacker says use the 8-nozzle collection. Trays arrive; nozzles miss pockets; the operator jogs the head; they invoice line time. Sales said the trays "fit the catalog."

Confirm: Overlay their nest PDF against the tray map. Measure three nozzle centers. Watch one cycle with no jogging. If the quote used a storefront screenshot, the map was never theirs.

Fix: Recut CAD to the copacker PDF. Do not argue catalog compatibility. Brand grams and copacker cycle both have to pass before MOQ 20.

Illustrative scenario: brand on one coast, copacker with an 11-nozzle servo

Hypothetical path - not a named customer file

Brand sends a mascot. Copacker emails a nest PDF and "11-nozzle servo." We would charge ~$50 CAD mapped to that PDF, prototype 3-7 days after lock, and ask them to run it on the real head. We would not use a stock 11-across listing. MOQ 20 would wait until both brand grams and copacker cycle passed.

What to ask your copacker this week

  • Nest PDF this week?
  • Who signs first article?
  • One process, or flood plus deposit?
  • Will they run our prototype on the real head?

RFQ: copacker pack

  • Copacker name (internal) + machine as they name it
  • Nest PDF / measured pitch
  • Brand STEP + grams
  • Who approves first article
  • CAD ~$50; then proto 3-7 after lock; then MOQ 20
  • Docs for the tray lot

Copacker RFQs we will not accept as-is

A nameplate is not a nest drawing. We will not pitch from a competitor photo, promise 3-day US custom trays, skip copacker first article, or quote polycarbonate as a gummy tray. Send their drawing and who signs first article - then we map.

When this copacker page is the wrong route

Geometry can override: a mascot ear still needs peel on a perfect nest. Related deep RFQs: cavity map, flatness.

Copacker FAQ

Will you make trays for a named depositor brand?
We will map to the nest they send. We do not stock OEM-branded SKUs under someone else's nameplate.
How is this different from the machine-fit page?
/depositor-compatible-gummy-molds/ is pitch, nest, and sheet when you own the drawing. This page is the brand-to-copacker file pack: who sends the nest, who signs first article.
What if the copacker will not share drawings?
Measure three nozzle centers on a visit, or send a tray that already runs on that head. We still will not copy a catalog.
Who has to approve the sample?
Usually both: brand grams and copacker cycle (no jogging). Write that on the RFQ before we pour.
What is MOQ?
Soft-tray MOQ about 20 per design after both parties approve the sample. DFM review is free. CAD modification is about $50 when the model needs lock — not a fee on every PO. Prototype commonly 3-7 business days after CAD lock.

Send their nest PDF and who signs first article

We will map CAD to that nest - not to a catalog collection - and say what the prototype must prove on their head.
