Gummy mold prototype sample: what the 3-7 day piece must prove

A gummy mold prototype sample is the first real tray you dump or deposit into after CAD lock - not a 3D render and not a photo you signed in email. WYD's path: CAD modeling or modification typically around US$50, freeze the map, then a prototype in 3-7 business days after that lock. Production MOQ is 20 pieces per design.

WYD (Room 201, Building N, Licheng Technology Industrial Park Phase III, Xinhe Avenue, Shajing, Baoan District, Shenzhen, since 2006): CAD about $50, prototype 3-7 business days after CAD lock, soft-tray MOQ 20, FOB Shenzhen. We do not ship a prototype in 3-day US warehouse time, and we do not call a render a sample. Write the pass line before we pour. Multiplying an unweighed sample multiplies the miss at MOQ 20.

What the sample must prove

Write a pass line before we pour:

"Looks good" is not approval.

Do not convert our $50 into someone else's deposit. Do not convert a 4-6 cavity sampler into our MOQ.

Failure: signed a photo

Symptom: Production trays do not match the Instagram shot; grams are off; the copacker rejects the set.

Confirm: Was CAD locked? Was the sample the production Shore, color, and support frame / nest setup?

Fix: Re-run first article with the written pass line. Do not skip to 20.

Illustrative scenario: 4 g pectin, 8-up sample, then 96-up

Hypothetical path - not a named customer file

CAD ~$50 locks the mascot and pitch. An 8-up prototype leaves in 3-7 days after lock. Every pocket is weighed, then 96-up at MOQ 20. We would not approve from a render. We would not start 96-up on open ears.

What to ask before we pour

  • Clock starts at CAD lock?
  • How many pockets on the sample (enough to see outer-row)?
  • Same compound as production?
  • Who signs the weigh sheet - brand or copacker?

RFQ: sample pack

  • STEP + grams + formula
  • Nest / pan
  • Sample cavity count (enough for outer-row)
  • Pass/fail sentences written before pour
  • CAD ~$50; then proto 3-7 after lock; then MOQ 20

Prototype RFQs we will not accept as-is

A 3D render is not a prototype. We will not multiply cavities before CAD lock, promise a 3-day US sample from Shenzhen, or treat another shop's design deposit as our CAD fee.

Sample FAQ

Is the prototype 3-7 days from the PO?
From CAD lock, not from the first email. If the STEP is already mold-ready, say so and we can skip the ~$50 review.
Do you sell a sampler pack of stock trays?
No. Custom sample of your map. We can pour a small cavity count if that is the proof you need. Production is still MOQ 20 of the approved design.
What if CAD is already locked?
Skip the ~$50 if the STEP is mold-ready. Write that on the RFQ.
Who signs the weigh sheet?
Brand, copacker, or both - write it before we pour. If the line is not yours, see /copacker-depositor-gummy-molds/.
Does a soft sample prove a later steel tool?
It proves cavity shape, grams, and often nest fit. It does not prove steel cycle time or a depositor program you have not named. Keep pitch and datum in the CAD if steel is on the calendar.

Write the pass line, then send the file

We will say what the 3-7 day tray must weigh and peel before you release MOQ 20.
