Concrete spacer RTV: plaster demold before you fill the sheet with concrete

More cavities is not free output. A 600 mm-class map gets heavy and floppy. This Singapore-market pack used plaster to see release before the messy mix.

Plaster demold

Spacer molds are industrial RTV, not a gummy tray with a different color. Drawings covered size families 20 / 25 / 40 / 50, with 30 on a companion sheet. Quotation used Shore A 50. Layouts in the workbook were not one universal count: examples 72 / 30 / 20 on roughly 300 mm-class concepts and 150 / 130 / 70 on roughly 600 mm-class, depending on the mix. Those numbers stay on this project.

Lock which sizes share a mold

Mixing 20 through 50 on one sheet is a cavity-map decision, not a default. Cavity count changes silicone volume, footprint, filled weight, stiffness, and tear at thin features. Shore A 50 was the quoted reference here — not a rule for every concrete tool. Plaster tests showed trapped geometry, flash, thin-feature distortion, and release without wasting a concrete batch.

What to send

  1. Size list, mixed vs dedicated molds, pieces per cycle, max footprint
  2. Whether you need a rigid jacket once the sheet is full of wet mix
  3. Target Shore if you already have a plant standard

FAQ

Is 72 cavities the standard spacer mold?

No. 72 / 30 / 20 and 150 / 130 / 70 were examples in this quotation mix.

Why plaster first?

It shows release and cavity close without the weight and mess of a first concrete pour.

RTV on WYD?

Yes. Send the drawing pack to /contact/. We do not bounce industrial RTV off this site.

Send the spacer sizes and whether they share one sheet

If the first test is plaster, say so. We would rather see a dry pull than a torn 600 mm concrete skin.
