Custom molded silicone kitchenware from WYD

HCR/HTV, LSR and Overmolding

HCR/HTV Compression Molding

Common for many solid silicone kitchenware products, mats, trays and accessories.

LSR Injection Molding

Can be appropriate for designs and production programs suited to liquid injection molding.

Overmolding

Used when silicone is combined with plastic or metal handles, frames or inserts.

RTV Mold Making

Also available when the customer wants a flexible silicone casting mold rather than the finished kitchenware product itself.

Food-Contact Material Selection

“Food-grade silicone” is not enough information for a complete production specification. Before quoting, confirm:

  • food-contact market
  • contact temperature
  • contact duration
  • repeated-use condition
  • oven/freezer exposure
  • cleaning method
  • color
  • hardness
  • required reports

Documentation is confirmed for the selected compound and intended application. Do not treat one temperature range as universal for all materials/products.

Kitchenware application still
Utensil and mat jobs need the real temperature and dishwasher condition.

DFM for Kitchenware

We review:

  • wall thickness
  • ribs/support
  • flexible handles
  • thin lips and sealing edges
  • collapse/fold geometry
  • tray sag under load
  • insert retention
  • parting lines
  • logo position
  • cleaning-friendly geometry
  • packaging deformation

A product can use suitable silicone and still fail if the geometry is too soft, too thin or difficult to clean.

Branding and Surface Finish

Options may include:

  • molded logo
  • raised/recessed lettering
  • Pantone-matched color
  • multi-color design
  • matte or glossy tooling surface
  • packaging/private-label coordination

Fine logos and texture should be reviewed for molding, cleaning and long-term appearance before tooling.

Kitchenware in use
Fit to a pan or lid is a mating-part problem.

Prototype Checks

Depending on the product:

  • dimensions
  • hardness
  • grip/feel
  • loaded stiffness
  • collapse/recovery
  • lid fit
  • insert retention
  • food-use temperature
  • cleaning
  • surface finish
