Custom RTV Silicone Molds for Complex Casting
For complex 3D shapes, strong undercuts, sculptures and lower-volume casting projects, RTV silicone mold making can be the most practical manufacturing route.
A typical RTV development process is: 3D/CAD → Resin Master Model → RTV Silicone Mold → Test Casting.
Depending on the geometry, the mold may use one-piece construction, slit construction, two-part or multi-part construction, registration keys, pour channels and vents, removable cores, or a rigid mother mold / support shell.
Terminology: a resin master model / master pattern is the solid master. An RTV silicone mold is the flexible casting mold. A mother mold / support shell is the rigid external shell that supports the flexible RTV mold. The resin master is not a mother mold.
WYD supports RTV mold making and HCR/HTV tray production. We recommend a route after reviewing the geometry, casting material, and repeat-order requirements.
