Custom Silicone Parts for Electronics & Wearables
WYD manufactures custom silicone parts for electronic devices and wearable products, including straps, keypads, protective covers, seals, soft-touch components and overmolded assemblies.
Projects can start from device CAD, component drawings, a physical housing or an existing sample.
Product Types
Wearable Straps and Bands
Geometry, hardness, hole/closure detail, skin-contact requirements and repeated flex should be reviewed together.
Silicone Keypads
Key web geometry, actuation, PCB/bezel fit, legends and conductive contact requirements need dedicated engineering.
Protective Covers and Sleeves
Fit, interference, port/button clearance and install/remove behavior should be validated on the actual device.
Seals and Gaskets
Groove geometry, squeeze, flash location and environmental exposure drive the seal design.
Overmolded Components
Silicone can be integrated with suitable plastic or metal inserts using mechanical retention and/or validated bonding systems.

Manufacturing Processes
- HCR/HTV compression molding
- LSR injection molding
- silicone overmolding
- two-color molding where appropriate
- extrusion for profiles/tubing
RTV silicone mold making remains available for projects where the customer is purchasing a casting mold rather than a finished electronics component.
Design Around the Device, Not Only the Silicone Part
For device-fit projects, send:
- housing CAD or physical sample
- mating dimensions
- button/port/camera locations
- required interference
- expected installation/removal cycles
- environmental exposure
- Shore hardness
- cosmetic surface requirement
The flexible part should be validated on the actual assembly whenever possible.

Environmental Requirements
Do not claim every silicone grade is automatically resistant to all UV, sweat, oils, cleaners or chemicals. Specify the real exposure:
- sweat/skin oils
- outdoor UV
- cleaning chemicals
- temperature
- water
- industrial fluid
- repeated bending
The material and test plan should be matched to that environment.
Prototype Validation
Typical checks:
- assembly fit
- port clearance
- button feel
- strap flex
- retention
- seal performance
- surface feel
- color
- insert bond
- repeated install/remove

What to Send for a Quote
- device / housing 3D file
- silicone component drawing
- material requirement
- Shore hardness
- quantity / annual volume
- use environment
- color / finish
- functional test
- required documentation
Request an Electronics & Wearables DFM Review
Send the device CAD and silicone component drawing so we can review fit, environment and process.
