Industrial OEM

Custom Industrial Silicone Parts

WYD manufactures custom silicone components for industrial equipment, assemblies and OEM products from drawings, 3D files or physical samples.

Typical projects include seals, gaskets, boots, bumpers, protective covers, flexible interfaces, grips and other molded silicone components. Material and process are selected after reviewing the actual service environment.

Industrial Silicone Parts We Manufacture

Gaskets & Seals

Custom sealing geometry developed around mating parts, groove dimensions, media and temperature.

Protective Boots & Covers

Flexible protection for housings, connectors, controls and equipment interfaces.

Bumpers & Vibration Components

Custom silicone features for contact, cushioning, spacing or vibration-related functions where silicone is appropriate.

Grips & Handles

Molded or overmolded silicone for grip, comfort and environmental exposure.

Custom Molded Components

Drawing-controlled silicone parts that do not fit a standard product category.

Industrial silicone parts
Media, temperature, and the groove or cover interface belong on the RFQ.

Manufacturing Processes

HCR/HTV Compression Molding

A common route for custom molded industrial silicone parts and seals.

LSR Injection Molding

Used when the geometry, material and production program justify liquid injection molding.

Silicone Overmolding

For silicone integrated with plastic or metal inserts.

Extrusion

For tubing, cord and continuous custom profiles.

RTV Silicone Mold Making

Also available for projects where the customer needs a flexible casting mold rather than a finished molded silicone component. WYD supports both RTV and HTV/HCR routes. The project object determines which one is appropriate.

Start With the Service Environment

Do not specify only “industrial silicone.” Tell us:

  • operating temperature
  • media / oil / water / chemical exposure
  • indoor/outdoor exposure
  • compression or pressure
  • static or dynamic movement
  • cleaning agents
  • expected service cycle
  • required hardness
  • regulatory/material documentation
  • failure that must be avoided

A silicone compound should be selected against this actual duty.

Industrial molded silicone
Bumpers and boots need the load direction.

Industrial DFM

For molded parts, we review:

  • wall thickness
  • undercuts
  • parting lines
  • flash-sensitive surfaces
  • sealing surfaces
  • groove/mating geometry
  • tolerance stack
  • inserts
  • demolding
  • measurement method for flexible dimensions

For a functional seal or assembly part, the mating hardware is often as important as the silicone drawing itself.

Prototype and Functional Validation

The first sample should prove the function that matters. Depending on the project, this may include:

  • fit
  • compression/squeeze
  • leak testing
  • pull/retention
  • hardness
  • dimensions
  • installation/removal
  • heat exposure
  • fluid/chemical compatibility testing by the customer or agreed test method

Do not approve an industrial silicone part based only on appearance.
