Extrusion
Custom Silicone Tubing & Extruded Profiles
WYD supplies custom silicone tubing, cord and extruded profiles for industrial, food-contact, equipment and other OEM applications.
Extrusion uses a die to form a continuous profile. The important quotation inputs are the cross-section, material, tolerance, length and service environment.
What We Extrude
- round silicone tubing
- custom ID/OD tubing
- silicone cord
- rectangular or shaped profiles
- sealing profiles
- cut-to-length extruded components
Feasibility depends on cross-section, wall thickness, material and tolerance.

Minimum RFQ Information
For Tubing
Provide inner diameter, outer diameter or wall thickness, tolerance, Shore hardness, color/translucency, length, continuous coil or cut pieces, quantity in meters/pieces, and service media/environment.
For Custom Profiles
Provide a dimensioned cross-section, critical tolerance, Shore hardness, material, cut length, annual volume, and joining/secondary operations if required.
Material Selection
Do not specify only “food grade,” “medical grade” or “high temperature.” Define:
- contact media
- temperature
- pressure/vacuum if applicable
- bend requirement
- cleaning/sterilization
- target market
- documentation
The selected compound and documentation are confirmed against the actual project.

Tolerance and Process Control
Extruded silicone is flexible, so tolerance must be realistic for cross-section size, wall thickness, Shore hardness, cure/process and measurement method.
Critical dimensions should be identified rather than assigning unnecessarily tight tolerance to the entire profile. For a formal quote, we confirm the achievable tolerance after reviewing the section and material.
Prototype / First-Cut Validation
Check:
- ID/OD or cross-section
- wall consistency
- Shore hardness
- surface condition
- color
- cut length
- fit
- kink/bend behavior where relevant
- media/temperature compatibility according to the validation plan
If a new extrusion die is required, die/tooling cost and first-cut sampling are quoted separately.

Extrusion vs Molded Parts
Use extrusion for continuous profiles/tubing. Use HCR/HTV compression molding or LSR for discrete molded cavity parts. WYD provides all of these processes; the drawing determines the route.
