Gummy molds

Custom Silicone Gummy Molds

WYD develops custom silicone gummy molds for pectin, gelatin and other confectionery programs where cavity weight, tray size, demolding and production-line compatibility matter.

We can develop branded shapes, logos and multi-cavity layouts from 3D files, drawings, samples or approved artwork.

Design Around the Depositing Process

Start with the depositing method. For a line-fed tray, nozzle count and pitch, tray locating points, maximum tray envelope and the handling direction can be more restrictive than the desired number of cavities. A layout that looks efficient on screen may not register with the existing depositor or move safely when filled.

For the first review, send the target piece weight, formula family, normal deposit temperature, shape or artwork, target pieces per batch and first order quantity. If the tray must run on existing equipment, include the machine model or a dimensioned drawing showing nozzle pitch, registration points and available tray size. Mark any values that are still being tested; the quote should state the assumptions used.

Target Weight Must Be Validated

A 3D cavity volume can provide an engineering starting point, but final gummy weight depends on the actual formulation and density.

For weight-sensitive production, validate the prototype with the customer’s real material and process before production geometry is frozen.

Demolding and Tray Stiffness

A gummy tray must work both empty and full. Review cavity depth and fine features for release, then check the loaded tray across its full span: unsupported edges or a flexible center can affect handling even when every individual cavity looks correct. The required stiffness depends on wall geometry, cavity spacing, support frames and whether the tray is lifted by hand or transferred by equipment.

The production route should follow the approved shape and expected repeat volume. A development sample can answer release and handling questions before production tooling is fixed. Test it with the buyer's intended formulation and process; a cavity-volume calculation alone cannot confirm final piece weight, surface finish or demolding behavior.

For trays with many cavities, confirm cavity spacing and fill volume before approving the production layout.

Gummy Tray Development Case

Our repeat-production gummy tray case follows separate designs through cavity development, sample checks and production layouts. It shows why the target piece weight and individual cavity need to be confirmed before the layout is expanded.

See the documented gummy tray development case for project drawings and production photos. Its cavity counts, dimensions and hardness belong to those designs; they are not standard specifications for a new tray.

Buyer note

“I did. I like some of them a lot. The really small ones and the cubes I like. The hearts are too shallow, but that's my fault. I didn't look at the specifications. I'll probably be ordering some more. Thank you.”

Cavity depth is a written spec. If a heart, cube or mini piece must hit a fill height, lock that millimetre on the RFQ before the next tray - do not guess from a photo of an empty cavity.

Food-Contact Material and Documentation

Tell us the destination market, food-contact conditions and required documentation when you send the tray requirements. Material and document availability must be reviewed for the selected silicone compound and intended use. See our silicone materials and compliance documentation guide for the information needed at this stage.

What to Send for a Quote

Send the target finished weight and shape, formula family, deposit temperature, cavity count, tray envelope and first order quantity. For automated filling, also send nozzle pitch, machine locating dimensions and a photo or drawing of how trays enter and leave the line.

Send gummy mold requirements

A CAD file is useful but not required for the first discussion. A sample gummy, dimensioned sketch or approved artwork can start the review; identify what still needs a deposit-and-release trial before repeat-production tooling is approved.
