Logo Depth Before the Silicone Mold Is Cut
Fine lettering fails when depth fights the release. The short shows cavity plates and a small silicone tray. Send artwork before the cavity is locked.

On this page
A logo that looks sharp in a PNG can fill in, tear, or vanish once it is a cavity. The short below is a WYD clip of metal cavity plates on a bench and a small white silicone tray. The line on screen says molds start from your drawing or sample. That line is not a tolerance.

Cavity plates and a small tray

Use the clip to see the split we actually quote: a metal cavity when the job is compression tooling, and a silicone tray when you pour into rubber. It is not your logo, your stroke width, or a finished inspection.
What we check on lettering
- Stroke width against the pour. Thin serifs fill with chocolate, wax, or plaster before they look "detailed."
- Raised versus recessed. A raised logo on the piece is a pocket in the mold, and that pocket has to peel.
- Spacing between letters so neighboring strokes do not become one web.
- Release direction. A deep return under a letter tears the face on demold.
The commercial path depends on the pour. Chocolate logos sit on chocolate molds. Plaster relief sits on craft molds. A molded silicone article with a pad-printed or molded mark is a different object.
When fine type will not release

We would not recommend cutting the cavity from a flattened JPEG and hoping the type survives. Send vector art or a STEP, the smallest letter height, and whether the mark has to stay readable after one demold. Standard/simple 3D modeling can start from USD 50 per design. Complex sculpting is quoted by scope. Send the artwork.
FAQ
Can you copy a logo from a photo of a competitor bar?
No. Send your own art. We do not reverse a competitor mark into a cavity.
Does a deeper logo always look better?
Deeper detail is harder to release. Depth is set against the pour, not against the render.
Is the metal plate in the clip my tool?
It is a frame from the short. Your plate or RTV skin is quoted from your file.
Do you need the font file?
Outlined vectors or a STEP are enough to review. A live font with no outlines is a revision later.
When does the prototype clock start?
After CAD approval. Reply is typically within 12 hours. That reply is not a finished quote.
Ready to order custom silicone molds?
Send your drawing, sample or project requirements for DFM and quotation.
